Our story began in 1978, when a small group of independent pharmacists joined together with one shared belief: that communities deserve pharmacy care rooted in local ownership, personal relationships, and genuine trust. That belief became the foundation of Value Drug Mart and later Apple Drugs, and it continues to guide every one of our locations today.
The very first Value Drug Mart opened its doors in 1978, offering not just prescriptions, but a welcoming place where neighbours felt supported. By 1982, the stores expanded into personal care and home essentials, becoming an essential part of everyday life in their communities.
In 1996, our sister brand, Apple Drugs, opened its first store, strengthening our commitment to delivering care shaped by the people who live and work in each neighbourhood.
Today, with nearly 40 independently owned locations across Canada and more on the way, our dedication to community connection remains as strong as ever.
